The 5 Secrets to Social Success with Biblical Principles {a book review}

Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

In our growing tech world of "social" media, instant messaging and texting, true social skills are becoming lost.  Children are growing up learning more how to socialize via a cold object rather than how to successfully interact with a live being.  Loneliness and isolation are becoming an increasing problem.  Dr. Liken and Dr. Blalock are trying to turn that all around in their book, The 5 Secrets to Social Success with Biblical Principles.

The 5 Secrets to Social Success study journal goes back to the very basics of social success, walking us through the steps with clear definitions and guided group activities.

This book would be a valuable asset for the homeschool co-op, the church small group, the church youth group, or any support group.  It teaches you social skills, so you can succeed in job interviews and in the workplace, gracefully.  Discussions include eye contract, body posture, conflict resolution, and how to remain calm, just to name a few.

Social grace is not something everyone just knows.  It is learned and it is taught.  One of the first classes I was required to take in college was a communications class and I remember thinking to myself how invaluable the knowledge was and wondering why this was not a class offered in junior high or high school.  With this great curriculum you can take on the responsibility of teaching social grace to your children and to your peers.

5 Secrets is available in paperback and is available on kindle.  For me personally, I was given an e-book of this journal.  I would recommend the hard copy because after each skill, discussion and activity there is a study guide to journal what you are learning.  However, for cost savings, it would be find to use a kindle plus a notebook and pencil.
