Kindergarten Week 9 {LHFHG Unit 7}

We're using Heart of Dakota: Little Hearts for His Glory.

Here are some highlights from our week:

Connor is really into learning about skeletons, so we read some non-fiction things about bones and then for fun read Bone Dog - Connor really liked this book and it spurred so many questions.  Then we did a a q-tip skeleton craft to go along and decorate our walls for Halloween.

Role Play:

There's never a shortage of role playing in our house.  This week's favorite was when we watched Felix Baumgartner skydive from the edge of space - (yes, we're behind in our posts - lol).  Afterward Connor announced he was going to be the next skydiver and began to build himself a costume ..... from Emma's baby doll swing.  I love this kid.

Connor loves science.  A lot.  This week we learned about grains and he (as instructed from the curriculum) drew grass, then stems with glued on Cheerios, and then he sprinkled mixed cereal grains we had onto the last section.  He began to ask lots of questions about where our flour comes from and it reminded me of The Little Red Hen story - a great story that talks about the whole process from growing to milling to baking the bread.  So we read it!

We happened to randomly find a dino dig kit at Good will one day so took that home and Connor got busy being pretending to be a scientist.  What a mess!  lol.

He took all the bone pieces over to baby brother to teach him all about it.

Life School:

We spent one afternoon at a pumpkin farm choosing pumpkins, playing in a maze, and visiting the farm animals.

Another afternoon was happily spent at one of our libraries.

And that wraps up our week review, in pictures. Of course there's a ton more we did, but I can't photograph every detail. ;)
