Preschool Science: Bubbles

Spring is a great time for bubbles.  We decided to turn this fun time into a science experiment and make our own bubbles at home.  I won't share the exact recipe or steps here as I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel.  We used the recipe over at Bubble Town.

We had all the ingredients already - whole flax seed.  Other recipes call for gelatin, which I didn't want to have to run to the store to get.  Anyways - it was super interesting.  All my kids enjoyed the process of watching the seeds produce a slime that then became part of the bubble solution.

Of course, we can't have a fun experiment without adding some themed books to our library basket:

POP!  A Book About Bubbles:  the science behind the bubble.
The Scrubbly-Bubbly Car Wash:  a bubbly fun book perfect for preschoolers to maybe grade 2ish
Scrubba dub:  perfect for toddlers and preschoolers
Five Little Monkeys wash the car
Bubble Bath Pirates!:  perfect for those mommas of little pirates
