The Lion and the Mouse Unit Study

We periodically stray away from our Five in a Row curriculum to visit other great books.  This week was our week with The Lion and the Mouse.

In addition to our regular devotions we touched on compassion (or kindness) this week.  We used Kids of Integrity as well as Character First Education.

To go along with our compassion topic we check out a few books from the library (public and our own)

For language arts I had both the kids (2nd grade and pre-K) choose a page from Let's Be Kind to copy into a little notebook.

We made a mouse and a lion craft.  There was plenty of role-playing of the fable this week, whether in person or with our crafts.

For math I asked Emma to complete a pattern block lion.  Connor loves these so he did one too.

We read various books on mice and lions (both fictional, for fun, and non-fiction).  One we read was Mouse Paint.  We used Mama Jenn's printable to mix colors.

  1. What a fun learning week! I am going to check out The Berenstain Bears Help the Homeless. That is one we haven't read.
