Kindergarten Week 7 {LHFHG Unit 5}

We're using Heart of Dakota: Little Hearts for His Glory.

Here are some highlights from our week:

Art/Craft:

We learned about little about quails and made a craft quail - in the shape of a plane - and flew him around the room.  Connor asked what quails sounded like so that sparked more learning via YouTube.

Role Play:

We learned of David the shepherd boy from our Read and Share bible.  Both kids LOVE this book and DVD set, always asking to watch the entire DVD instead of just the one lesson I planned.

Connor found his little lamb toy and pretended to be a shepherd.

Each day during music time Connor dances around the room.

Science:

The week for science we learned of clouds and rain.  We took cotton balls and soaked them in water then squeezed to make "rain".  Then he made different types of clouds on paper by shaping the cotton balls.

He really loved this.  He loves science.

Language Arts:

During our readings of Reddy Fox I have him make the scene with clay to help with attention.  Keep those hands busy!  He used the marker as the tree and created the characters ol mistah buzzard and reddy fox.

He played some games from Hooked on Phonics and also spent some time on Starfall.com.

He's so excited and proud to be reading!

Math:

Another favorite of Connors - hands on math!  This week we did "greater than" and "less than" with blocks an a hungry crocodile that likes to eat the biggest piles.

He played with this for quite a while.

Life School:

The best lesson this week was in regular life.  The beauty of meeting baby brother's for the first time.  He has been so excited for so long!  Of course, being homeschooled he was able to come to the hospital right at opening visiting hours and help with naming baby brother.  ;)

And that wraps up our week review, in pictures. Of course there's a ton more we did, but I can't photograph every detail. ;)
